American luxury carmaker Cadillac recently unveiled its newest concept car, the Cadillac Escala Concept. The concept car features a futuristic design, as well as a slew of new technological upgrades.

The Cadillac Escala Concept debuted at this year's Geneva Motor Show. Motoring experts believe that Cadillac has good reasons to work on a new concept car. Statistics reveal that the company experienced an uptick in sales output by 34 percent in Europe last year.

In a statement acquired by GT Spirit, Global Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen said," First, Escala is a statement of intent for the next iteration of the Cadillac design language, and also technical concepts in development for future Cadillac models. Secondly, Escala builds Cadillac's aspirational character, signaling the brand's return to the pinnacle of premium."

Escala, which is a Spanish word for scale, is quite large compared to other Cadillac cars that are in production. The Escala measures 5347mm in length, and a large chunk of this is endowed to its massive wheelbase. This design ensures a spacious interior for both front and rear passengers.

The Cadillac Escala is based on the new premium car architecture which focuses on rear-wheel drive. Cadillac debuted this particular car architecture on the company's recently released CT6 luxury sedan. The Escala also features the redesigned version of Cadillac's classic vertical lighting design, something that has been a staple to Cadillac cars since 1948, according to GM Authority.

Under the hood, the Cadillac Escala is expected to pack the company's new prototype 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Several speculations claim that the engine utilizes active fuel management technology and a cylinder-deactivation module, a set of features that are getting more common in today's sports and premium cars.
