Jaguar has already set its first electric SUV concept loose on the streets of London this March. The new Jaguar I-Pace SUV concept shows a production model that is set to go on sale in the near future.

This makes it the first time a near-production ready version of the vehicle has been released on the streets in the UK. Jaguar just brought the car to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show together with the new Range Rover Velar and Land Rover Discovery Project Hero.

 Ian Callum, Director of Design, said, "The feedback on the I-PACE Concept has been fantastic. "With the I-PACE Concept, we've torn up the rule book to create a vehicle with supercar inspired aesthetics, sports car performance, and SUV space, in one electric package. It has surprised people, and the enthusiasm for our first electric vehicle has been beyond all my expectations." 

The Jaguar I-Pace SUV has a 90kWh that powers the motor, and according to the automaker, it helps the car to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 5 seconds. There's no wonder why Jaguar calls it a sports car.

In addition, Jaguar also claims that the car offers a 500km range on a full charge. It also comes with a quick battery technology that can charge 80 percent in just 90 minutes using a 50kW DC charger.

However, Jaguar isn't ready yet to spill all the beans about this concept. The automaker is planning to reveal the car in detail later this year and is claims to enter production in the second half of 2018.

The car's two electric motors that are mounted to the front and rear axles can produce 396 bhp. Pairing this is a 700Nm torque.

There is no official word yet on how much the Jaguar I-Pace SUV concept will cost. But when it goes on sale, it will likely rival another battery-powered SUV called the Tesla Model X.
