Chinese smartphone giant Huawei recently announced that the newest addition to its growing P10 series of devices will be released on March 31. The Huawei P10 Lite is expected to be a mid-range smartphone and pre-orders for the device are currently available at Carphone Warehouse, EE and Vodafone.

The March 31 release date is for the European market. Huawei has yet to confirm whether the phone will find its way into other international markets, especially North America.

Several vendors from the Portugal, Netherlands and Italy have confirmed that they are already accepting pre-orders. In Italy, one retailer priced an unlocked and SIM-free model of the Huawei P10 Lite at €349, roughly $379 going by today's exchange rate, according to The Verge.

The Huawei P10 Lite is a toned-down version of the P10 flagship smartphone which was unveiled during this year's Mobile World Congress along with the P10 Plus. As with previously released Lite devices, the P10 Lite will most likely ditch the dual-camera configuration which can be found on both of its bigger and more powerful siblings. Nevertheless, the P10 Lite is still an impressive device, given its hardware specs.

According to Android Central, the Huawei P10 Lite has a 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution. It has a Kirin 658 chipset that features an octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM. Onboard storage is at 32GB with microSD support for storage expansion. It is powered by a 3000mAh battery pack which can power the device a bit longer that its siblings, given its low-powered chipset and low-resolution display.

In the camera aspect, the Huawei P10 Lite packs a 12-megapixel rear-facing main camera. It has an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies and video calling. The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with Huawei's own EMUI 5.1 on top.
