Microsoft Surface Studio: A Digital Touchscreen Canvas with the Functionality of a Computer That Everyone Can't Help But Love

The Microsoft Surface Studio definitely attracts a lot of attention, in particular for creatives. It is an all-in-one fusion of a digital canvas touchscreen tablet and a device for doing everyday tasks like web browsing and e-mail.

According to a report by Wired, when Satya Nadella took over the Redmond-based company, he laid down a new philosophy. He wanted to shift from people needing Windows to them choosing Windows and eventually loving it.

In the past, the company is well known for making devices and programs that people need but don't really like that much. On the other hand, the company's top competitor Apple makes things that people absolutely love, so much so that there are even cult devotees of the brand. In order to make something that people really loved, Microsoft decided to make this HUGE device that costs nearly three thousand dollars.

The Microsoft Surface Studio is not something people need at all unless they draw or design for a living. However, the convertible desktop PC is such a lot of fun! Users can draw with the pen, pull on the 28-inch screen, and even play their favorite YouTube videos. After using the thing, people just can't help but love it in all of its big Windows-y glory!

In a review by Mashable's senior illustrator, he appreciated what the device was about. Ordinarily, Bob Al-Greene would rely on two devices - a Cintiq 22-inch touchscreen tablet for his work and his iMac for checking his e-mail and web browsing. He noted that the Surface Studio put both of these tools in one large machine.

According to his review, the Studio is both a simple but elegant device. It saves a lot of space and makes a workstation instantly more organized because of this. While it does have a Surface Pen, the illustrator noted that using one's fingers was just as efficient and more user-friendly. For drawing and using the Stylus, Al-Greene commented that it is perfect for artists.

Most recently, the Surface Studio will launch in France this coming July but in limited quantities. In September, more stock will be available and could also be available to other parts of Europe.

The Microsoft Surface Studio is a remarkable convertible desktop PC. It is very versatile and looks sleek and refined. It is ideal for illustrators and creatives, but it is only ordinary when used as a regular desktop. All-in-all, it is a bit pricey, but it is a significant step towards achieving Nadella's dream.
