2018 Volvo XC60: Volvo's New Best-Selling SUV

One of the most significant announcements at the 2017 Geneve Motor Show was the reveal of the long-awaited 2018 Volvo XC60 SUV. The new Volvo shares its platform with the larger XC90 which gives the vehicle a more distinct styling.

Compared to the current XC60, the latest model features a more upright front end along with a prominent grille flanked by Thor's hammer LED headlights. The looks are similar to the recent Volvo models, but on the new model, the headlights connect to the grille. The new model has three bold lower air intakes with bright metallic below the central air intake and LED foglights.

The 2018 Volvo XC60 comes with the T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid, with 407 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100kmh in just 5.3 seconds. In addition, a diesel D4 at 190hp and a D5 PowerPulse is also offered delivering 235hp, plus a petrol T5 with 254hp. Volvo said that it would produce a T6 engine with turbo and superchargers that will produce 320 hp and 400Nm of torque.

The new XC60's interior was designed by former Bentley interior design chief Robin Page, which is now the vice president interior design at Volvo. A new four-zone control system comes with the new model that removes pollutants and particles from outside the cabin to give the "Scandinavian-fresh air on the inside."  Smartphone connection with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is also supported.

The car comes with the same superb 9-inch touchscreen as the XC90, as well as the optional Tweeter on Top, 1400-watt Bowers, and Wilkins stereo system. The car's system subwoofer is built into the subframe, while the other 14 drivers powered by a Class D amplifier, are placed around the cabin.

The new 2018 Volvo XC60 will go on sale in Canada late in 2017. Pricing has not yet been revealed, but it's expected to start at $50,000.
