The new 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport looks like the monstrous Z06. It clearly stands halfway up in the Vette lineup when it comes to price and performance.

The Grand Sport is a name that Chevrolet has kept in its box for 53 long years, just bringing them out occasionally. There were three previous Vettes: The first one is the 1963 stillborn race car, which only five models were made. Second, the 1996 C4 model, limited only to 1,000 vehicles, and the 2016 C6 version, which got so famous that it got more than half of Vette's sale in the last year of the C6 production in 2013.

The new 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is to Corvette, and the GTS is to Porsche. The car is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 that generates 455 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.

Meanwhile, outside look shows the trademark Grand Sport Cup wheels, a wide-mouth Z06 grille coated in black, and a wide back end. Its wide fenders allow the Grand Sport to utilize larger brakes and more importantly is the option of fitting wide sticky Pilot Sports Cup 2 tires.

The engine is paired with a seven-speed manual that can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and runs a one-quarter mile in 12.2 seconds at 116.1 mph. The car's manual weighs around 3,464 pounds compared to the Camaro that weighs in around 3,735 lbs. It also records a maximum lateral acceleration number of 1.18g.

The car's base price starts at $66,445, that $10,000 more than a starter Stingray. Also available is a 3LT Premium package that includes heated and ventilated seats, head-up display, navigation, a performance data recorder, and a lot of cosmetic upgrades.

Furthermore, 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grandsport is the best-selling Corvette model. Customers can choose the manual version that costs $92,060 or the automatic version that costs $92,385. It can deliver a world-class performance without forcing every customer to sell their first vehicle.
