"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 speculations point to an April release. Unfortunately, Viz Media came out to clarify the issue. However, Viz Media's senior director Kevin Hamric seems to have confirmed the new season will come out later this year.
In an interview with Anime News Network, Viz Media explained that the fans have misquoted the company's senior director Kevin Hamric from his interview with ICv2. Many thought that the senior director has confirmed the summer release of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3.
In the ICv2 interview, Kevin Hamric discussed the new line-up of projects and schedule of releases of several manga series from their company. Kevin Hamric talked about the release date of "One Punch Man" and "My Hero Academia." He also confirmed that Netflix will stream the movie "Death Note" this summer.
Apparently, fans misquoted Hamric when the latter talked about the summer releases of their company. Although Kevin Hamric talked about "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, he did not specify "April" as the release date of the anticipated anime.
Hence, Viz Media has come out with a statement to correct the rumor. Viz Media emphasized that only "My Hero Academia" has been scheduled to be released in April, and not including "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3.
Meanwhile, looking back at the statements of Kevin Hamric in the ICv2 interview, he mentioned that "There's going to be another season of 'Tokyo Ghoul' coming shortly. Later in the year, those would be the bigger releases on the anime side."
Although Viz Media debunked the April release date rumors, it seems that the fans can still anticipate for a release this year. Based on the statements, the senior director seems to hint that the "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is set to come out later this 2017.
When the senior director said the last statement, he seems to confirm that the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul" is coming out this year. However, fans will have to wait a little longer as he also mentioned "later" which suggests a fourth quarter release can be expected.
