“Logan” Opens Today Amid Rave Reviews; US$70 Million Box Office Expected

No other Marvel movie except "Logan" could generate both rave and scorching reviews for the blood, gore, and poignancy this movie will generate. Movie reviewers are predicting that this will be another box office film from the X-Men Series.

Supposedly set in a "Dystopian", parallel-universe world where all X-Men are supposed to have died (they were reportedly obliterated by an X-Men - spoiler alert!) and Wolverine (played for the 9th time by Hugh Jackman) who is now called "Old Man Logan" is living with weakening superpowers and tending after an ailing Professor Charles Xavier (played by actor Patrick Stewart).

Variety Reviews has one of the happiest reportage for the movie that is supposed to be the swan song of Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman and the end of the Wolverine series. Variety projects that "Logan" will reap USD70 million at the box office, the biggest cinema opening of the year!

Stuff tags the movie as part of a "superhero genre that comes of age," commenting on the dark and depressing situation that the main character actually has become. Aside from focusing on their aging superhero bodies, "Logan's" main storyline revolves around the arrival of a young mutant, X-23 (Laura in the movie), who is actually Wolverine's clone, pursued by the bad guys. Hell, then breaks lose as Logan, accompanied by Professor Xavier, tries to protect Laura and goes on a road trip to escape the bad guys.

"Logan" is a stylistic shift, reported The New York Times. Most Marvel superhero movies are not as dark, but "Logan" is both dark and depressing, especially when referring to its main characters. The New York Times also calls it a homage to the Western gunslinger genre movies, wherein you shoot first anyone in sight -- and ask questions later.

Logan will run for 2 hours and 17 minutes and has earned a rare R-16 rating, "Logan" is still a fun romp into superhero land although much painful to watch this time amid rave reviews of the top three mutants there. Make sure to see this movie today.
