Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Revealed At GDC 2017; GPU’s Specs, Performance, and Price Here

Nvidia has officially launched today its new flagship graphics card, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California. The GPU promises an aggregate improvement of 35 percent over the GTX 1080. Let's see the details of the hardware's architecture and expected performance based on the company's internal tests.

The high-end graphics card underwent a series of tests which used several grades of anti-aliasing on 1440p and 4K resolutions. Some of the video games used for the internal tests include "Battlefield 1," "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided," and "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."

Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang presented the successor to the GeForce GTX 1080, which boasts of l1GB of GDDR5X memory. The company claims the latest card is faster than its Titan X, which debuted a year before.

The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti's board wows with powerful components including 12 billion transistors, 3584 CUDA cores, 28 geometry units, 224 texture units, 28 streaming multiprocessors. The graphics processing unit has a 352-bit GDDR5x memory interface, 11GB of VRAM, and a stock core clock of 1583 MHz. A stage demo at GDC revealed the card running overclocked slightly above 2000 MHz core clock speed.

The ultimate GeForce card's 11GB of RAM is needed because games keep using it, says Nvidia. The company redesigned the card's cooling solution and power supply. The card's 220W TDP rating is better than the vanilla GTX 1080's 180 TDP but lower than the Titan X Pascal's 250 watts.

Nvidia believes that the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is its best Ti card yet. It will launch next week and will retail at $699. GDC 2017 also saw the launch of Nvidia's new SKUs for the GTX 1080 and GTX 1060. Their memory overclocks are 11GB/s GDDR5x and 9 GB/s GDDR5, respectively.
