An Ex Ferrari Salesman named Robert Root filed a lawsuit against Prestige Car Company, Ferrari regarding the use of a device to manipulate Odometers to gain higher value with used cars. This scheme added million of dollars worth of value to the car being sold by the company which is morally wrong and illegal in the eyes of the federal law.

The device is called "Deis Tester" which contains a software program that allows resetting of cars odometers to 0. Apparently, before the trained mechanic reset the Ferarri car's odometer, the device sends a signal to the company's headquarters to seek mileage reset approval. Thus, this proves how Ferrari performs such shady tactics with its car's dealership.

According to the lawsuit, "Ferrari and its affiliates train technicians throughout the world [on the] use of the Deis Tester device." This statement from the lawsuit proves that these shady tactics are being practices all around the world. If this is proven to be true, it is expected that the company will face huge distrust from the whole automotive community and its customers.

Root named specific personnel who paid a mechanic at the dealership to roll down their car's odometer. He named retired CEO of Food Producer Sarah Lee, and Steven McMillan. Root mentioned the device to McMillan to warn him about low mileage Ferraris. McMillan later then used the knowledge acquired from Root to bribe a mechanic to use the device. As a result, other mechanics noticed an abnormality with the odometer readings which was then raised to General Manager Jay Youmans.

Youmans learned that Root mentioned the device existence to McMillan which resulted in him getting fired since it is a complete violation of business ethics. To his expense, Root claims that he was helping McMillan by warning him regarding Ferraris with abnormally low mileage, and not to advertise the device.

Root later then declared that Ferrari is using such elaborate scheme to circumvent sales taxes for buyers, and for the financial gains of its customers and dealership. It this allegation turns out to be true, it will be a huge blow to Ferrari's reputation.
