Best Mirrorless Cameras: Sony Alpha 7R II – Reality Realized

The Alpha 7R II is the latest and best mirrorless camera from Sony that brings 42MP stills and 4K video to a small, lightweight body. The camera has unprecedented capabilities that put it high on the list of the best mirrorless cameras.

According to Digital Preview, Sony Alpha 7R II is a 42MP full frame mirrorless camera with 5-axis image stabilization. The camera features the world’s first 35mm BSI CMOS sensor, and it includes a hybrid autofocus system and 4K video capabilities.

On the outside, the Sony Alpha 7R II is made of magnesium alloy. It has improved weather sealing, and a more robust lens mount to support heavy glass. It includes a 3-inch 1.2 million dot LCD screen that can flip up and down, though not side to side. The camera also has a well-sized 2.3 million dot electronic viewfinder with 0.78x magnification. The camera has a large range of buttons across its surface.

Most of them are customizable, but some are much easier to reach than others. The camera features built-in Wi-Fi and has audio connectors for both a microphone and headphones. For connectivity, it has USB 2.0, and micro-HDMI port.

According to Cnet, Sony Alpha 7R II has not so great battery life. When you’re not shooting, you are recharging the batteries. The camera requires a minimum of two batteries for a full day work. However, the Sony Alpha 7R II has a sharp image quality and the video is great as well. It is a great camera for users that need a high-resolution full-frame model in a more compact design than a dSLR. The camera has an MSRP of $2,899.99 for the body only.

The big plus is that the user can use Canon or Nikon lenses with the camera. With this improved performance, better design, and an expanded feature set over the original A7 R, the Alpha 7R II is one of the best mirrorless cameras on the market.
