Renault Zoe Z.E 40: Simply Revolutionary

With the new Z.E. 40 battery, Renault has proven its expertise and experience in electric vehicle innovation, offering the driver a greater driving range and full flexibility. It has a real-life estimate of up to 186 miles in summer and 12 miles in winter.

According to Next Green Car, the Renault Zoe Z.E. 40 now packs a 41kWh battery with 250 miles range. Renault’s engineering team reported that the extra range has been achieved by “chemical wizardry”, but that’s not the case. They have developed a battery with greater energy density through tweaking and improving the materials used.

All of the models got slight design tweaks inside and out, but the new Zoe Z.E. also comes with a new top-of-the-range trim level, the Signature Nav. It includes leather upholstery, bronze highlights inside, rear reversing camera, new alloy wheel design, and Bose stereo. There have been some improvements in the charging of the vehicle as well.

The car is available in rapid charge-capable 230-mile specification and non-rapid 250 mile trim. The 250-mile trip can connect to a 43kW rapid charger, and it will be charged from 0-80% in one hour and 40 minutes. A 7kW home charger will fully charge a Zoe Z.E. 40 in a little under seven and a half hours. The 230-mile model needs 1 hour on the rapid charger but increases the 7kW charge time by an hour.

The Renault Zoe Z.E. 40 comes with a 68kW 92 horsepower electric motor, and with its relatively light weight, there is plenty of power to keep the car at motorway speed. The handling is better suited for urban driving as it gets heavier at high speeds. On the inside, the Zoe Z.E. 40 has a good build quality but not the greatest one. The cabin is made from hard and cheaper plastic, but it can accommodate 4 adults without any problem.

Clean Technica reports that the pricing for Renault Zoe Z.E. 40 has been slashed in Portugal. The price slash is part of a new promotional push. Renault usually advertises the Zoe a lot more in the summer. That is probably because the electric car gives a better range figure in warmer temperatures, which is essential good for first impression. The Renault Zoe Z.E. 40 Intense Flex is currently advertised at €17,560. With this figure, the total discount is €9,390.
