Leica Teases Huawei P10 and P10 Plus With Impressive Black And White Snap

Two new Huawei smartphones were recently teased by the company's camera provider. Leica has shared a promotional posted confirming the existence of the widely rumored Huawei P10, and P10 Plus smartphones.

The two Huawei smartphones are expected to make their official debut at this year's Mobile World Congress which is expected to open its doors next week. The photo shared by the German camera-maker is a simple black and white image of a man wearing a flannel coat, according to CNet.

The image is overlaid with a simple text "Huawei P10 | P10 Plus" and Leica's logo below it. The caption reads "The Huawei P10 co-engineered with Leica Camera is coming!"

A couple of hours later, Huawei posted the same image but with a different caption that reads, "The Huawei P10 is coming and we're excited to announce that we'll be continuing our partnership with Leica Camera."

The upcoming Huawei smartphones were not the first collaboration partner between the Chinese hardware manufacturer and the German camera maker. The two companies have also worked on Huawei's previous flagship smartphone, the Huawei P9 which boasts a dual-camera configuration.

Leica's dual-camera configuration is somewhat different compared to other options in the market. Unlike most sensors, one of Leica's camera only snaps black and white photos. Using both cameras in a single shot creates a photo with a shallow depth of field effect that is akin to a DLSR photo.

Huawei has yet to confirm, or even tease, the specs of the upcoming P10 and P10 Plus smartphones. However, words over the tech community suggest that the two smartphones will pack a 3.5mm headphone jack, a feature that was ditched by Apple and HTC on their latest flagship devices, according to GSM Arena. Previous leaks have also pointed to at least six color options for the P10 and P10 Plus devices.
