The tech giant Apple is already months away from launching its new iPhone 8 series, but speculations haven't stopped leaking details about the new phone. A few reports suggest that Apple is now ditching the 32GB and 128GB storage options, and planning to offer only two models this 2017.

According to 9to5Mac reports, the only storage that will be available for this year's flagship phone is 64GB and 256GB, which will also be backed by 3GB RAM, same as the iPhone 7 Plus. These storage options are said only to be offered in the high-end iPhone versions, which will become the most expensive iPhone ever.

In addition, Apple is anticipated to reveal iPhone 7s and 7s Plus models with toned town specs. It might also be possible that Cupertino-based tech titan will keep the 32GB and 12GB models intact for the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 7s devices.

On the other hand, Apple is also expected to launch its very first iPhone equipped with wireless charging capabilities later this 2017. However, speculations remain conflicting about whether the new feature will be based on inductive technology, which would require a charging pad or a truly wireless long-range charging solution.

The tech giant recently joined the Wireless Power Consortium, a group of over 200 companies supporting the Qi wireless charging standard, signaling that it is leaning towards an inductive solution. It's said that the company is testing many different technologies behind closed doors, some of which never see the light of day.

Furthermore, Apple is speculated to release a 5.8-inch iPhone with an edge-to-edge OLED display, together with an updated 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch version, in September. Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst, said that all three iPhones would feature the wireless charging, while a few reports suggest that only the OLED models will be capable.

It's speculated that the new iPhone 8 will be more expensive than the outgoing high-end lineup, with a starting price of $1000 or even higher. Other standard upgrades include an improved battery, new chipset, iOS 11, advanced camera and more.

The new iPhone 8 is expected to drop the home button, placing all the needed functions into the display. The new iPhones are anticipated to debut in the fall officially. Apple will reveal the next version of the OS, iOS 11, on June 5.
