'Fast Eddy': A 650-HP V8 Supercar From Aria Group

One of the fastest supercars in the world holds name that's pretty much unexpected. Known as 'Fast Eddy', it is a 650-horsepower V8 engine supercar built by SoCal concept car builder Aria Group.

650-horsepower V8 engine 'Fast Eddy'. The supercar is known to have been one of the cars at last year's LA Auto Show although it was not really at the show. In fact, it was hidden in a small studio a few blocks away from the main event. It currently doesn't go by any other name.

It was built as a way to celebrate Aria Group's 21st anniversary. Also, it was built to see how people would react to it and if people would welcome a production version.

When asked why Aria Group built the car by Top Gear, executive Clive Hawkins said, "Through engineering and manufacturing specialist road cars, we wanted to capitalize on that knowledge and add design services, too. So we can offer a one-stop shop which can do everything from design, engineering, and manufacture right the way through to a finished product. It's very rare for one company to be able to do that."

Building the supercar tested the company's potential in producing supercars. The production of the vehicle has enabled Aria Group to see what it can achieve in building supercars in the future and to make it known that the company is a vehicle design company as well.

The supercar sports a 6.2-liter V8 engine that can produce 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. For a powerful vehicle like it, it is surprising to know that it only weighs an impressive 2,900 pounds. It is expected to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3 seconds. The supercar is designed by Nicholas David whose work includes the Jaguars XKRS and CX-75.

The supercar is named after Eddy Taylor, a celebrated car designer at General Motors. Taylor is the man behind the design of over 20 GM production cars including the Corvette C4 which is one of the many inspirations for Fast Eddy. Eddy Taylor is also the father of one of the co-owners of Aria Group, Charles Taylor.
