2017 BMW 5 Series First Car To Offer Apple Wireless CarPlay

The 2017 BMW 5 Series will be the very first car to offer the newest Apple Wireless Car Play. This new technology is made possible with the help of Harman, a company that designs and develops connected products and solutions for automakers, enterprises and consumers worldwide.

The 7th generation 2017 BMW 5 Series that boasts of its 3.0L 6-cyclinder turbocharged engine (530d) will offer this new feature from Apple. This will help the $93,900 (starting price for 520d) 5 Series sport sedan to fulfill its vision to be BMW's leader in technology and luxury, The Motor Report cited.

Techradar reported that up until now, Apple CarPlay is still using cables in order to attach its device on a USB port of the car's dashboard. Hence, it can be simply annoying or time-consuming if you simply want to listen to the music in your device or try making a call.

According to the Verge, the 2017 BMW 5 Series will carry the latest Apple CarPlay functions as an app that can be installed with compatible vehicles to enable iOS control the music, navigation and even text messaging via the car's dashboard. It also allows Siri controls which can help drivers in adjusting the volume of music or even make calls with the help of an AI assistant even while they are driving. This ensures that their eyes will always be on the road and hands will be on the wheel all the time.

Also, the new method will simply replace the cable using Bluetooth connectivity making it more convenient, easier and safer to use while driving. Additionally, the USB slot will be free to be used for other purposes like charging cell phones and the like.

Meanwhile, it will be recalled that Apple has announced in 2015 that they will be giving wireless functionality with their auto app but is seemed that it hasn't yet materialized until now. However, with the said announcement, many consumers will surely be waiting for the Apple CarPlay to be offered with other vehicles as well. With the 2017 BMW 5 Series having this latest technology many vehicles may follow the trend soon.
