The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport looks a bit like the monstrous Z06. The car stands halfway up in the Vette lineup when it comes to performance and price.

Grand Sport is a name that the automaker has kept in its box for 53 years, bringing them out occasionally. There are only three previous Vettes; the 1963 stillborn race car, which only five were made; the 1996 C4 model, limited only to 1,000 vehicles, and the 2016 C6 model, which was so famous it got more than half of Vette's sale in the last year of C6 production in 2013.

The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is to Corvette and GTS is to Porsche. It's powered by a 6.2-liter V8 the produces 455 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.

The exterior visual tells the trademark Grand Sport Cup wheels, a wide-mouth Z06 grille coated in black, and a wide rear end. The wide fenders allow the car to utilize larger brakes, and more importantly the option of fitting wide, sticky Pilot Sports Cup 2 tires.

The car also sports a seven-speed manual that can accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 3.9 seconds and runs a one-quarter mile in 12.2 seconds at 116.1 mph. The GS manual weighs about 3,464 pounds compared to the Camaro that weighs in at 3,735 pounds.  The car also records a maximum lateral acceleration number of 1.18 g.

The car's base price costs $66,445, that $10,000 more than a starter Stingray. A 3LT Premium Package is also available that includes heated and ventilated seats, a performance data recorder, head-up display, navigation, competition seats, and a lot of cosmetic upgrades.

The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has recently been the best-selling Corvette model. Buyers can choose the manual GS that costs $92,060 or the automatic GS that costs $92,385. The car delivers a world-class performance without forcing every customer to sell their first car.
