2018 Jeep Gladiator Expected To Have Aspirated V-6 Engine Offering 285-Hp And 260-Lb/Ft Torque; Reduced Overall Weight

The 2018 Jeep Gladiator is highly anticipated as it pays homage to the Gladiator first released in in 1962 as a 1963 model. Several decades later, it is reported to be resurrected and industry experts are waiting in anticipation for its official release.

According to New Trucks 2018, the 2018 Jeep Gladiator will make its debut in showrooms with modified design and additional specifications. The Jeep Gladiator made its appearance during the 2005 Chicago Auto Show, however, it has not been officially sold. Reasons were undisclosed by Fiat Chrysler Automotives. This definitely was a major disappointment especially to those who are eager to get their hands first on the truck.

Reports have suggested that FCA is creating the upcoming Gladiator with a longer wheelbase which is similar to the Wrangler. It is also expected to come with a considerable overall weight reduction for more fuel efficiency.

The 2018 Jeep Gladiator is expected to have a bolder look. The front grille will have at least seven vertical gaps for air-intake. To add to the appeal, the headlights will be placed below the hood cover in between the fenders. The interior will boast of the most advanced and state-of-the-art technological systems. The suspension is expected to be beefed up as well to provide a comfortable ride even with the toughest terrains which it is built for.

FCA has been mum regarding other features of the upcoming Gladiator like its drivetrains. However, reliable sources predict that it will be powered by a 2.8-liter diesel engine enough to produce 163-horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

However, according to Car Model Reviews, the site predicts a more powerful 2018 Jeep Gladiator as it may hit the dealerships with an aspirated V-6 engine and 3.6-liter capacity creating a powerful 285-horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. There is another version close to the earlier report having VM Motor I4 engine with 2.8-liter engine producing 160-horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The upcoming Gladiator is also expected to come with an advanced GPS tracking system and a satellite navigation system, far more advanced than the Gladiator initially shown in the market back in 2005. The interior, in addition, is meant to support four to five people comfortably with rear foldable seats.

FCA has released no official reports regarding the release of the 2018 Jeep Gladiator, but experts predict it will stay true to its year. It is expected to be released last quarter of 2018 although car enthusiasts hope it hits dealerships earlier than this.
