Ferrari is allegedly working on a 70th-anniversary special edition vehicle. This speculation comes after patent images of what appears to be a LaFerrari body were filed by the Italian sports car manufacturer.
Ferrari to make 70th-anniversary special edition vehicle. According to a patent filed last year, the company is looking to redesign the bodywork of LaFerrari. The special edition vehicle could be released in time for the Italian sports car manufacturer's 70th anniversary as a special edition vehicle.
Images filed along with the patent show what appears to be a vehicle based off the hybrid hypercar but not quite. The new bodywork apparently doesn't include the usual stepped headlights and circular taillights. It instead sports a more minimalistic look.
The aero design present in most Ferrari vehicles is still there. It has been tweaked a bit to make prominent the heavily sculpted sides of the body. Front and rear reinforcements help with channeling air through and away from the body.
Given that rejected design proposal of the hybrid supercar show a similarity with the new patent images, the recently filed patent could possibly be just a one-off project and not ever see production at all. The rejected design proposals are currently on display at the Museo Ferrari in Maranello.
This special edition LaFerrari is speculated to feature the regular naturally aspirated 588kW 6.3-liter V12 engine and 120kW electric system. The combined powertrain is able to produce 108kW and 900Nm at 9000rpm.
The supercar is a limited production hybrid sports car which literally means "The Ferrari". It is the first Ferrari mild hybrid sports car with the highest power output. It is very fuel efficient in the sense that it is able to decrease fuel consumption by 40 percent.
Ferrari has not provided an official statement on the patent filed last year. It is better to take this speculation with a grain of salt until then.
