All-New 205 HP Toyota Yaris GRMN Will Be Making Its Debut At The Geneva Auto Show

The all-new high-performance Toyota Yaris GRMN has been confirmed for a Geneva debut this March, and this time, it will be called the YARIS GRMN which stands for GAZOO Racing Masters of Nurburgring. The new model is the automaker's first hot hatchback for more than a decade and is said to have more than 205bhp.

The car will also be the only car in its class to have a supercharger rather than a turbocharger and will come with a 1.8-litre petrol engine. It will take on its hot rivals that include Ford Fiesta ST and Peugeot's 208 GTI by Peugeot Sport.

No further details on performance have been revealed by the automaker. But it suggests that the new model could accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.5 seconds and a 145 mph top speed.

Starting January of this year, the automaker has teamed up its motorsport and sports vehicle management divisions to Toyota Gazoo Racing Development Division. Toyota said that their aim is to "speed up development of the mass-production of sporty vehicles, as well as to facilitate knowledge feedback from racing-car component development to mass-production vehicles."

The photos of the new Toyota Yaris GRMN shows that the car is based on a three-door model of a facelifted model of the regular Yaris that will also appear on the Geneva auto show. The car gets an aggressive front and rear bumpers, side graphics in the colors of the new rally team and a large spoiler that is mounted at the back edge of the roofline.

The automaker before said that it needed a genuine performance vehicle if Gazoo was to gain credibility. As of now, the sub-brand is known outside of Japan. At the upcoming Geneva Auto Show, Toyota will boast the full range of Gazoo Racing cars that includes rivals from the World Rally and World Endurance Championship. Furthermore, official photos of the new Toyota Yaris GRMN shows a new body kit, a rear wing, centrally mounted exhaust, and larger alloy wheels. Black and Red graphics will also be available.
