"Assassin's Creed Empire" is the rumored title or codename of the latest AC game. It will allegedly launch in 2017 and is highly anticipated because there was no new AC for 2016.

Digital Spy reported in the past that the game will be set in ancient Egypt. The rumors came from a 4Chan poster who claimed to be an Ubisoft employee. The claim was eventually backed up by information gathered by Kotaku.

The game's new protagonist will reportedly be an ex-slave. Moreover, the game is said to be inspired by "The Witcher." The game will also be full of plenty of player progression, a new freeform combat system, and a colorful game world.

The game will be released in 2017. However, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has given no definite details.

VR Leaks. According to Gamezone, several leaks depicted the menu screen of an AC VR game. This made a lot of players speculate that the new game would be in VR. However, Ubisoft has announced that the VR leak was only an experiment that will not release to the public. The VR game is called "Assassin's Creed: Da Vinci's Workshop" and it is a collaboration with NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences students.

New Location. Previously, there was a lot of speculation that the game would be set in Egypt. However, The Sun recently reported that a new clue regarding the location was leaked. Apparently, Reddit user Flower Renaissance spotted a samurai with an "Assassin's Creed" badge in the game "Rainbow Six Siege." Ubisoft made both games.

This revelation may just be speculation but a lot of Reddit users really liked the idea. In the past, the company's creative director previously said that a mission set entirely in Japan would not be a good idea. However, there is still a chance that some parts of the game will have a Japanese setting.
