Fiat Chrysler Recalls 75,000 Cars Over Loose Bolts Issue

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently announced that it is issuing an order in order to recall nearly 75,000 vehicles. The recall was announced after the company found out that the vehicles were fitter with driveshaft bolts there are not tightly secured. The bolts could loosen and may increase the risk of an accident.

The recall will include Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles with model years from 2014 to 2017. Fiat Chrysler has informed the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stating that the powertrains on some of these vehicles may not have been properly fitted during the manufacturing process.

The NHTSA later added that the bolts fitted on the front driveshaft of affected cars may loosen after some time. If this happens, it could potentially cause the driveshaft to disconnect and cause a crash.

The NHTSA said that there are clear warning signs before such incident can happen. The federal agency said that owners might notice some unusual amount of vibration and noise in the vehicle before the bolts cause the failure. Fiat Chrysler said that the company has yet to receive a report of accident or injury related to the problem, according to Detroit Free Press.

All the vehicles that are being recalled are equipped with an all-wheel drive powertrain. To be precise, 69,298 vehicles registered in the U.S., 5,312 registered cars in Canada, and 347 outside of North America will be part of the recall, according to The Car Connection.

Fiat Chrysler is planning to start sending mail notices to affected owners on March 31. Once customers received the mail, they can schedule a service with their local Fiat Chrysler dealers. The dealers will perform the necessary inspection and will replace all eight of the front driveshaft bolts. Fiat Chrysler said that all service charge and cost of replacement parts will be waived as compensation for the inconvenience.
