Aston Martin AM-RB 001: The Future Of Extreme Hypercar; Go Wild With 1000 Horsepower!

Aston Martin AM-RB 001 debuted at the 2017 Canadian International Auto Show where Dr. Andy Palmer, Aston Martin's CEO, announced that it is there to help celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. All pre-orders of this future hypercar have been sold out, with a long list of people waiting. Let's dissect the hardcore super fast car that has got everyone talking.

The product of the collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull, the Aston Martin AM-RB 001 will not remain as a concept car. But they will actually build this bad boy and is intended to be used for both the race track and the road. Watch out Porsche.

"The AM-RB 001 is destined to become the defining hypercar of this decade and a hugely desirable investment for collectors and enthusiasts," said Aston Martin President and CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer. Don't worry, this hypercar is yet to have its real name as the AM-RB 001 is merely temporary.

Engine. Cosworth will design, engineer, and build the hypercar's engine. The hypercar will make use of a mid-mounted 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine mated with a small electric motor. Combined, they could produce 1000 horsepower, which by the way has become the benchmark for hypercars these days, reports TopSpeed.

Its power-to-weight ratio will be 1:1. The hypercar will only weigh around 1000kg or around 2200 pounds. A seven-speed, most probably dual-clutch, a paddle-shift transmission will route the power to the rear wheels.

Since this is a joint venture between Aston Martin and Red Bull, it is no surprise that the Aston Martin AM-RB 001 will house F1-like hybrid tech. Developed by Rimac, the compact KERS-style boost system will make its way to the future of hypercars, but only for performance purposes. So, forget fuel economy in this type of vehicle.

This specific system is said to deliver 1000kW of power upon acceleration with 400 kW during braking. This comes as no surprise as the makers behind this system were the same people behind the Concept One electric hypercar.

Exterior. Since the systems will be integrated into the underside of the car, it will not come with splitters, huge spoilers, or side skirts. This may impact heavily its aesthetic beauty, but it still looks stunning, though. The prototype has fake headlights. But Wipac has confirmed that they will be making the hypercar's  LED headlamps and taillights.

You cannot expect a vehicle this gorgeous to be priced with only 4 zeroes. Jalopnik reports that the price tag on the Aston Martin AM-RB 001 is a whopping $2.7 million or £2.2 million. Note that all 150 units are already sold out, but a long list of people are still waiting in case one of them backs out.

Release Schedule. There will be versions of Aston Martin's hypercar: track-spec and standard. The company also confirmed that the production version of the Aston Martin AM-RB 001 will hit roads by 2019. Now hardcore enthusiasts can only dream of owning one as only a handful will make it out and they are already owned.
