Instead of charging for pancakes, IHOP will be asking for donations to help raise their goal of $3 million for Children's Miracle Network hospitals according to CBS News. This is the eighth consecutive year IHOP has held this promotion in which each customer will receive a free short stack of pancakes.
Charities receive 100 percent of the proceeds earned during National Pancake Day according to the IHOP website.
"The concept is simple, but our mission is ambitious; to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals," said Julia Stewart, the interim president of IHOP and CEO of DineEquity, Inc to CFNews 13. "For the past eight years, it has been a pleasure and a privilege for all of us at IHOP to participate in this worthy event, and each year our guests have proved to be incredibly generous, helping us not only reach but surpass our goal."

Since starting its National Pancake Day in 2006, the company has raised over $10 million to support charities in local communities.
"We look forward to continuing that trend this year as we plan to once again flip and serve about 4 million free pancakes for charity," said Stewart to CFNews 13.
IHOP has been serving people breakfast for the past 54 years, serving over 65 different signature meals made from scratch. The restaurant has also added a number of popular lunch and dinner items over the years as well. There are approximately 1,565 IHOP restaurants in the U.S., the District of Columbia, as well as other locations like Canada and Puerto Rico according to the company's website.
