With just weeks before the Mobile World Congress starts, a retailer leaked important details about the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. A Spanish retailer has inadvertently published what appears to be the official details of the upcoming Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus way ahead of their scheduled debut.

Although the post was taken down immediately, it was not before enthusiastic dwellers of the Internet have copied and shared it in several blogging sites.

The new Moto G5 series sports a lot of changes in terms of exterior design. The new Moto smartphones have a new circular share for the camera lens. Just below the camera lens is the Moto bat-wing logo.

On the front, the Moto G5 ditches the square home button found on the Moto Z and Moto G4 for a rather conventional rounded rectangle shape. Probably the most interesting shift in design is the option to use metal for the smartphone chassis, instead of plastic.

The leak also provided an insightful peek into what is under the hood of the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. In terms of chipset, the Moto G5 will have a mid-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 while the Moto G5 Plus has a rather new Snapdragon 625 chipset, according to Slash Gear.

Both smartphones sport 2GB of memory, according to Android Central. The Moto G5 has 32GB of storage space, while the Moto G5 Plus has 64GB. Both models have a fingerprint scanner, a big addition since this was not a feature of the Moto G4. However, only the Moto G5 Plus sports an NFC sensor, and the Moto G5 does not. Both models are expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system.

The Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will officially debut at the 2017 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona which is expected to open its doors on February 27. The two upcoming smartphones are expected to hit the market within the second quarter of the year.
