2017 Cadillac XT5 Review: Pleasing Ride with a Striking Design

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 replaces the automaker's former best-selling model, the SRX. It has new tech features, interior improvements, and uses quality materials.

Pros and Features. The 2017 XT5 is an SUV that seats five. It comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that is capable of producing 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque.

It has excellent handling and a very pleasant ride. It also has a very generous interior space made with premium materials. Additionally, it has excellent forward visibility.

Cons. The new 2017 Cadillac XT5 only comes with one engine choice. Its tech interface is also frustrating for some. The all-wheel drive model is not available for the base trim.

What's New? The XT5 is a new model for 2017. It is an entirely brand new Cadillac.

Models. The 2017 XT5 is available in four trim levels: XT5 (the base model), Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum. All of the trims have the same V6 engine.

The base 2017 Cadillac XT5 features 18-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. It also has leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless ignition and entry, as well as a remote engine start. It has good stock tech features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, an infotainment interface, and voice commands, among others.

The Luxury model comes with leather upholstery, from seat power lumbar, and heated front seats. It also has a panoramic sunroof, interior accent lighting, and added safety features like rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.

The Premium Luxury gets the Luxury model's Driver Awareness package with a standard navigation system. It also comes with 20-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, and illuminated door handles.

The Platinum trim comes in all-wheel-drive-only and has a ton of features. It has trim-specific 20-inch wheels, upgraded leather upholstery, and a hands-free power liftgate. It also comes with a variety of visual aids such as a top-view camera system and a head-up display.

Verdict. The 2017 Cadillac XT5 has big shoes to fill. The added tech and safety features, the pleasant ride, and large interior make it a very reliable SUV choice.
