ZTE, a Chinese phone manufacturer, finally announced that it would be revealing its newest and first gigabit LTE smartphone at the upcoming Mobile World Congress this month. The smartphone is called the ZTE Gigabit Phone that has the capability to make 360-degree VR, 4K video, and instant cloud storage.

According to the company, it will mark "an important cornerstone for the 5G mobile era". The device will be able to achieve 1Gbps download speeds, which opens a lot of opportunities.

"The ZTE Gigabit phone will revolutionize connectivity with a new standard of download speeds, 1Gbps, bringing a qualitative leap to a new world of mobile experience by making 360-degree panoramic VR video, instant Cloud storage, entertainment upgrades and fast cache of ultra Hi-Fi music and movies possible," ZTE said in a statement on Friday. Now that's a high-speed data connectivity that everyone is looking is excited to have.

However, the Chinese manufacturer didn't provide any details yet on how these speeds will be achieved. Just because a Gigabit Phone will be capable of handling gigabit speeds, doesn't mean that the network will be too. The company didn't comment on this issue, but all of the speculations will come to an end this coming 2017 MWC.

Meanwhile, Qualcoom together with Ericsson, Netgear and Telstra announced last year that they would be developing a mobile hotspot in Australia that will allow devices to use 1 Gbps download speed. Surprisingly, they were able to achieve this ultra-fast connectivity by Telstra's current network system in Australia.

Qualcomm also revealed that their new Snapdragon 835 mobile platform could power the X16 model that supports download speeds up to 600 Mbps. In addition, ZTE did not confirm whether their new smartphone is using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor.

Since ZTE isn't saying much about their new Gigabit Phone, right now it's still unknown what kind of specs its going to have. The company will also display their newly upgraded Axon 7 with both Daydream and Android Nougat by Google along with a few devices as part of the highly admired  Blade series.
