2017 Infiniti QX80 Review: Large and Luxurious

The 2017 Infiniti QX80 is roomy, powerful, and fancy. It combines the best features of the minivan and crossover based SUV and packages them all into one large luxury vehicle.

Pros and Features. The QX80 is a full-size luxury SUV that can seat up to eight passengers. It has a powerful V8 engine capable of 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque.

The QX80 has a well-trimmed cabin that both looks and feels luxurious. It also has a very capable engine that delivers strong acceleration and has a high tow rating. Its tightly controlled handling also makes it feel smaller and easier to drive.

Cons. The third-row seat is very tight, especially for adults. The optional 22-inch wheels make the ride quality very choppy.

What's New? The trailer sway control is now standard on both models. In addition, in-car WiFi is now part of the optional Theater Package.

Models. The 2017 Infiniti QX80 SUV comes in two models: base and Limited. The base trim has a choice of rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, while the Limited trim comes exclusively with four-wheel drive.

The base full-size SUV is not really a "base" model at all. It comes with a very capable 5.6-liter V8 engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission, 20-inch alloy wheels, and automatic LED headlights and fog lights. It also has automatic high-beam control, a sunroof, a power liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors. Keyless entry and ignition, automatic tri-zone climate control, captain's chairs in the second row, and leather upholstery are also part of the "base" trim.

Inside, the SUV has a lot of tech which is great considering its high price tag. It has a 360-degree parking camera, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, a navigation system, and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. Several packages are also available: Driver Assistance package, Theater package, Tire and Wheel package, and the Deluxe Technology package.

The Limited trim comes with everything from the standard and has a unique distinctive interior and exterior trim. It also has in-car Wifi available as an option.

Verdict. The 2017 Infiniti QX80 brings everything you'd want in a luxury full-size SUV. It is roomy, filled with fantastic features and options, and is also very powerful. While its price tag is high, it's definitely worth it considering all the amenities that come along with it.
