BlackBerry 10 Review: Research In Motion Launches New Devices, Z10, Q10, Changes Corporate Name (PHOTOS/ VIDEO)

After falling behind companies like Apple and Google, BlackBerry is trying to get back in the race after they showcased two new BlackBerry devices in New York City according to a report by ABC News.

Research in Motion introduced a complete makeover of their operating system, and two new smartphones at the press conference. RIM has received endorsements from companies spanning the globe, and will soon begin a world tour to talk to different developers about the BlackBerry 10.

The company's name is also being changed, from "Research in Motion" to "BlackBerry" according to CNBC, and the new Nasdaq ticker symbol will simply be "BBRY.

"We have been on a journey of transformation, to transform our business and our brand, but also one that will transform mobile communications to true mobile computing," said company CEO Thorsten Heins on stage at the event. "Saying we have reinvented this company is simply not enough. Today is a new day in the history of BlackBerry."

The BB10 comes with features like Balance, which was designed towards business professionals who use their devices for personal use and work. All users have to do is swipe to switch between their work and personal information and profiles according to Heins. This new feature allows users to keep data secure without forcing them to purchase two separate phones.

BlackBerry Messenger was also updated for the new device, and a new video chat system called BBM Screen Share allows users to share their entire screens over BBM. The phones will come with over 70,000 different applications, like Skype, Amazon Kindle, Twitter, Angry Birds, Evernote, Rdio, ESPN Scorecenter, Flixter and WhatsApp according to CBS News.

Grammy award-winning singer Alicia Keys was named the company's new Global Creative Director at the event, after Heins stated Keys has been in a "long-term relationship" with the company.

"It's a change in smartphone experience -- the dominant paradigm, introduced six years ago, was great and revolutionary at the time," BlackBerry's Chief Marketing Officer Frank Boulben told ABC News in an interview. "But six years is a long time for a technology cycle, with a new user experience with a clear focus we have the opportunity to take market share back."

U.S. wireless carriers like Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T will be announcing pre-registration and price plans this week. A white version of the Z10 will be available exclusively to Verizon and will cost $199 according to CBS News.

Both the black and white versions will have 4G LTE capabilities.

The new BlackBerry Z10 will be available in the U.S. in March 2013. The UK will be able to purchase the device on Jan. 31, and Canada will be able to purchase one on Feb. 5.
