The Latest 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Gets Top EPA Approval

The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel gained top EPA approval for this year. EPA or the U.S. Environment Protection Agency is responsible for making sure that the health and environment regulations are being followed and enforced accordingly.

It will be recalled that Volkswagen had diesel emissions scandal previously paving the way for the regulators to add more scrutiny and enforce stricter rules especially when it comes to diesel vehicles. Many of the Volkswagen owners who bought the vehicle will sell it back to the manufacturer under the settlement made by the federal judge which Chevrolet may find advantageous in boosting their sales according to Green Car Reports.

On the other hand, Chevrolet is confident that their vehicles including the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel are compliant and will pass all tests and checks. Cars Reviews mentioned that Nick Morgan, spokesman for the company also said that they are closely working with EPA specifically with the Cruze diesel to make sure that it will pass all the strict US environmental validation and standards.

This has already been shown as the EPA has already rated their 6-speed manual transmission 2017 Chevrolet Cruze sedan with the rate of 30-25-37 mpg city-highway-combined. Their optional 9-speed automatic transmission was rated at a 31-47-37 mpg. Their rival company, Honda Civic has a rating of 36 mpg combined and features a turbocharged 1.5 L 4-cylinder engine.

The new 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel features a 1.6 L turbocharged diesel with 137 hp 240 lbs-ft torque. It is priced at $24,670 which includes destination. Meanwhile, Chevrolet will also introduce their 2018 Cruze hatchback in the following months of this year but it is still yet to be rated by the EPA. Additionally, they also plan to introduce a few more diesel models of GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox later on this year.
