The Lucid Air electric vehicle has just begun winter testing in Minnesota. Lucid Motors released the video to show just how fun the Air will be to drive.

Tech Crunch reported that Lucid Motors has released a video of their Air EV undergoing winter conditions testing. The footage shows the Lucid team testing the luxury electric vehicle in snow, ice, and mixed road conditions. The testing temperatures reached lows of up to -18F (-28C).

Air EV Features. First unveiled late last year, the Air was initially expected to be a Tesla killer. However, with its luxury price point, it could be a Porsche Mission E rival. In addition, it is expected to even rival traditional gas-powered luxury vehicles like the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The Air will feature the largest battery pack in the automotive world. It will go up to an optional 130 kWh for 400 miles of range, according to Electrek. It will also have a 100 kWh standard model similar to that of the Tesla Model S.

In addition, the luxury electric vehicle will have two electric motors each with 600 horsepower outputs each. Together, they will be able to push a combined 1,000 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.5 seconds. This is actually lower than the Tesla Model S' current record.

In addition, the electric car will feature a companion app similar to Amazon Echo or Siri to control the car. It is also expected to be autonomous-ready with both short and long range radar, Lidar, and a full set of cameras.

The Air will go into production next year and is expected to hit showrooms by 2018. The car is projected to be priced somewhere in the $100,000 ballpark, according to Inverse. Lucid Motors is now accepting preorders at $2,500 deposit for the standard model and $25,000 for the Launch Edition.
