2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet Review: An Off-Road Vehicle With Luxurious Features

Dr. Gunnar Güthenke of Mercedes-Benz G transformed the G-Class model into the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet. The vehicle was installed with a twin-turbocharged V12 engine which made the vehicle run faster, louder, and lighter.

The Specs. The rear portion of the roof had been replaced by a power-operated fabric top last seen way back 2011. The G-Wagen was installed with a twin-turbocharged V12 engine. It has a recorded displacement of 365 cu in and 5,980cc. Its powertrain can generate 621hp at 5,300 rpm, and 738 lb-ft of torque. It has been installed with a 22.8in-wheelbase along with first-class rear seats from the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class model. The aluminum wheels were enclosed with 325/55R-22 tires, reported Car and Driver.

The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet's acceleration speed from 0-60 mph counted only for 5.8 sec and has a top speed of 150mph. On its instruments, several parts of Mercedes vehicles were incorporated into the model and made it old-fashioned and elemental. It is 210in in length and has a curb weight of 7,300 lb., reported Yahoo! News. The lavish vehicle was not only built for luxury, but with an off-road feature with a low-range transfer case as its standard with locking front, center, and rear differentials as well.

On its interiors, the rear compartment was installed with first-class Maybach seats that can flatten into a vigorous massage system. It also has fold-out tray tables, silver champagne flutes by Robbe & Berking, and a console with two glove compartments. It also has eight electrically-maneuvered grab handles with a switch. Furthermore, two Maybach pillows with luxurious passenger compartments were also incorporated into the model. All other parts of the initially Mercedes-Benz vehicle remained unchanged.

The Price. Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet could sell at a starting price of $550,000. With a front-engine, all-wheel-drive, 4-passenger, 4-door feature, it will initially be sold in the United States. The official release date for the model has yet to be announced.
