iPad Pro Supply Shortage, Next Gen Releasing Soon?

The iPad Pro appears to be in short supply on Apple's online store. Many sources believe that the tablet has become increasingly hard to find because the next-gen tablets will be released soon. The Cupertino tech giant will allegedly launch three new iPads next month.

iPad Stock Shortage. Meanwhile, Apple's online store reveals that the 12.9-inch tablet now has an "estimated to ship in 2-3 weeks" availability in the United States, Canada, Australia, Franke, United Kingdom, Japan, and other countries. Last weekend, this shipping estimate was only 1-2 weeks' time.

Apple's in-store pickup tool also lists the 12.9-inch iPad Pro to be available only from March 3 to March 6 in several locations ranging from New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Canada, and London, English. Moreover, the 12.9-inch tablet also appears to be largely out of stock and back ordered by several weeks. This includes large resellers such as Best Buy, Verizon, and AT&T in the United States.

In stark contrast, the 9.7-inch variant of the tablet remains well stocked. It is immediately available to shop both at resellers and on Apple's website.

Mac Rumors reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the company underestimated the iPad demand for this quarter. Moreover, they have an issue with one of its suppliers and does not expect the shortage to be resolved entirely by this quarter. This may explain the supply shortage. However, the new iPads are also expected to launch very soon.

According to earlier reports, the new iPad Pro will come before the second half of the year. That's anytime in the next few months. Additionally, the new iPad is expected to come in three different models which will serve to replace the predecessor tablet and the iPad Air 2 as well.

The Bit Bag reported that the first model would be the low-end and more affordable version. It will have a 9.7-inch Retina display panel and will only get minor upgrades regarding hardware, according to reports.

The second model will have a 10.5-inch display area. The display area gets bigger while the form factor remains to be 9.7 inches due to the use of screens with micro-bezels. Finally, the third variant of the tablet will have the 12.9-inch display. Similar to the second model, it will also sport the latest A10X Fusion ARM chip from the Cupertino tech giant.

There is no official word from Apple regarding the restock of the current iPad Pro. While there is a possibility it will restock, there is also a possibility that it will no longer restock to make way for the next gen tablets.
