First Look! 2017 Dodge Challenger Special Edition Featured At Mopar's 80th Anniversary

In celebration of Mopar's 80th Anniversary, the 2017 Dodge Challenger was customized to fit the occasion. Featured at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, FCA introduced the special edition as the eight in a series of the Mopar-edition models. What are the specs?

The Improvements. The most obvious change to the model was its exterior features. The 2017 Dodge Challenger Special Edition was incorporated with a two-tone paint job with a Pitch Black roof and Contusion Blue or Billet Silver subordinate body parts. The brand would only manufacture 80 of the special edition. These units will be encrypted with a Mopar 392 logo to the body, reported Digital Trends. The car also has 20in wheels, black exhaust tips which can be found in the Hellcat, and its hood designed with a classic style.

As per the report by the Detroit News, the limited-edition muscle car is powered by a 6.4L, 392 Hemi engine which could generate an impressive 485hp and 475lb-ft of torque. It was also built with a six-speed manual transmission similar to the Nissan GT-R Nismo.

The Brand's History with Mopar. As mentioned, the 2017 Dodge Challenger Special Edition is the eight modified version dedicated to the Mopar collaboration. The first began in 2010 with the same model. The second modification was with the 2011 Dodge Charger, followed by the 2012 Chrysler 300, 2013 Dodge Dart, 2014 Dodge Challenger again, followed by the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T, and finally, the 2016 Ram Rebel.

Pricing. To purchase one of the 80 2017 Dodge Challenger Special Edition dedicated to Mopar's 80th Anniversary celebration, one must spend at least $55,790, $10,000 more than the 2017 Challenger 392 Scat Pack model. It has, however, the same engine features with the Shaker hood scoop but due to its exclusivity, the prices were lodged higher than the other Challengers. In fact, the Owner's Kit has a birth certificate attached which shows the car specifications and date of manufacture.
