Yamaha XSR900: Neo-Retro Superbike

The Yamaha XSR900 is a superbike well known for its carbon nose cowling and rear seat cowling, together with its low-slung handlebar and fancy exhaust. The superbike is powered by 847-cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline three-cylinder, four-stroke, and 12 valves.

The motorcycle has a bore and stroke of 78.0 mm x 59.1 mm. It has a compression ratio of 11:5:1. Yamaha Fuel Injection powers it with YCC-T. The motorcycle ignition is controlled by Transistor Controlled Ignition (TCI). It has six-speed transmission, which offers multi-plate assist and slipper-wet clutch.

The front chassis of the motorcycle has a 41mm inverted fork, which is adjustable preload and rebound damping around 5.4-in travel suspension. It has a single rear shock with 5.1-in travel suspension. The brake on the front has a dual 298 mm discs, and the rear has 245 mm discs. The front tires have 120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17 rear tires.

The Yamaha XSR900 measures 81.7 inches in length, 32.1 inches in width and 44.9 inches height. The seat height is 32.7 inches. The wheelbase measures 56.7 inches. It has a caster angle of 25.0 degrees rake. The trail is 4.1 inches. It has a 5.3 inches maximum ground clearance. The fuel capacity is 3.7 gallon.

The Yamaha superbike offers an advanced Traction Control System, which regulates ignition timing, fuel injection and throttle valve opening based on wheel speeds. It also features Vibration Reducing Counterbalancer for reducing vibration and providing a smoother modern engine, which revolves in the opposite direction as the crankshaft.

It has an excellent Crossplane Crankshaft Concept Engine, which is based on the FZ-09 concept that impact motor produces a powerful torque and quick-revving engine character. The Yamada MODE allows the rider to adjust engine character.  The MODE supports the rider a sportier throttle response in the low-to-mid-rpm range, and B-Mode lets the rider enjoy a softer throttle response.

The Yamaha XSR900 provides exceptional braking power thanks to sportbike-spec front brakes. It consists of paired floating 298mm discs with radially mounted four-piston calipers and a 245mm rear disc, which helps prevent wheel lock under hard deceleration.
