Mass Effect Andromeda Drops Paragon And Renegade Conversation Options: Here's What Mac Walters Has To Say

A mixed emotion reactions regarding BioWare's decision in cutting the Paragon and Renegade conversation options for Mass Effect Andromeda. The company clearly state to move away from the old system and the part of Shepard's character. Dropping features from the previous game has always been stigmatized to the Mass Effect franchise. But, does dropping Paragon and Renegade do the game any good?

Well, as reported by different publications, the new system will be based on agreeing or disagreeing conversation. Creative director, Mac Walters explained to Official Xbox Magazine that the new dialogue system makes things more interesting. How? Because the new communication system decides game's outcome changes depending on the NPC gamers will come across.

"What we have now is based more around agreeing and disagreeing. The reason I like that is that in the trilogy it's like, 'I'm [going] play Paragon,' and then you know which way you're moving the stick on every conversation. You don't have to think about it because you're just going to hit Paragon every time," says Walters.

The new dialogue might end up to be a good implementation for Mass Effect Andromeda. Because, not only it allows gamers to express themselves, but also requires them to pay more attention to details. The agreeing and disagreeing conversation improves better game engagement just like some of the successful RPGs.

Walters also added that characters could respond to other distinct tones of voice. "We've added in four tones, and we'll talk a little more in the future, but they allow other types of characters to express them[selves] in one of four different ways, and sometimes one of two [distinct] ways. And I think that gets back to that more traditional role-playing sort of feeling which is less about 'Do I want to be good or bad,' and more about 'How do I want to express myself?"

Gameplays, Combats, and Explorations are given to be great for Mass Effect Andromeda. But, gamers engagement is as critical as to any features, especially on the story and characters. There is no certainty whether this new implementation is a good move or not.
