The New And Improved Renault Zoe Electric Vehicle

Renault Zoe EV is the best-selling electric car in Europe. Renault has sold over 50,000 units all over the continent since it went on sale back in 2012. And now, Renault is launching the new Zoe EV, which is undisputedly much better and an improved electric car.

Telegraph UK reported that most of the key features in the new Zoe EV are the same as the last one. Apart from the new chrome logo, there are no drastic changes in the exterior. There are also new available colors such as Mars Red, Titanium Grey, and Yttrium Grey. They have added a Signature Nav model that comes with BOSE Audio system, 16inch Grey Shadow wheels, and smart leather upholstery. Both Expression Nav and Dynamique Nav are available for buyers to choose but the new long range battery only comes with the Dynamique Nav option.

The biggest change is in the battery department. The new Renault Zoe EV has a 41 kWh battery that has twice the storage capacity of the original battery while still retaining the same dimensions. The battery also comes with 2 versions which buyers can choose, R90 and Q90. R90 battery offers 250 miles range but no fast charging. While the Q90 offers fast charging, able to get to 80 percent battery life in just 65 minutes. While the R90 takes charging but in doing so it sacrifices 30 miles of range while the Q90 is an hour and 4 minutes.

According to the standardized NEDC cycle, the driving range of the new battery is 250 miles. However, Renault itself admitted that drivers should expect 186 miles of battery life in summer, and 124 miles in winter. But this is still an improvement over the older model.

The instrument table in front of the driver is easy to read. It has few data points such as speed, gear, distance traveled and energy used, and the remaining battery charge, Auto Blog reported. The interior is identical to the last model. The seats are supporting and the driver position is adjustable. The rear seats can accommodate two adults but there is an option to fold them down for more space if needed. The ceiling is covered in a thin fabric that’s printed with a quite electric pattern and the visibility around the car is great.

Renault Zoe EV starts at 23,600 euros while the Quick Charge Version comes at 870 euros premium. However, you also need to add the monthly costs for the lease of the pack. It can be as low as 69 euros a month with up to 7,500 km a year included, or 119 euros a month for as many miles as you want. There is also a traditional lease that starts at 149 euros.
