PS4 News: Sony Adds Extra HDD Support; PS4 Slow Performance Issue Affects 59% Of Users?

Today, 59% of PlayStation 4 users are experiencing slow performance issue specifically on the "What's New" area of the PS4 console. Friend Lists and profiles also increased loading times. This projected number is based on Push Square's poll survey. It appears that the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim experience the same issue, thus, it is not considered a hardware issue.

One of the probable causes laid out by Push Square is the increase of server request. Sony has not commented on the issue yet, but a response is highly needed right now since it is affecting the overall gaming experience of affected users.

In other news, Sony adds external hard drive support to PlayStation 4 next update. PS4 System Software Update 4.50 (codename Sasuke) will also add custom wallpapers, quick menu refresh, simplified notification list, and 3D Blu-rays on PSVR.

Users who signed up and were chosen for the beta program gets an early peek at the new software update features. An email notification will be sent to beta program users together with the download instructions. There are no details yet on when update 4.50 will be released. According to Kotaku, software update 4.50 will more likely commence within the next couple of months.

Takeaways: the extra HDD update will support up to 8TB USB 3.0 HDD. Quick Menu overhaul adds easy access to Party Features via Online Friends. Gamers can now easily create new parties, invite, and join parties without transitioning to Party application. The PS4 PSVR update allows viewing 3D movies in stereoscopic 3D straight on the PSVR.
