BMW has officially debuted its new 5 Series Touring. The German car manufacturer unveiled its new vehicle ahead of the Geneva Motor Show 2017 which starts on March 9, 2017.
The 2018 5 Series Touring. The 2018 5 Series Touring uses an all-new chassis just like the rest of the vehicles in the 5 Series line. This is to help in reducing the vehicle's total weight. In addition, 2018 5 Series Touring features a suite of new technology that adds more to its luxury appeal.
The new 5 Series Touring comes with four different engines and two drive systems. Buyers can choose from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine with 252 horsepower and 258 pound-foot of torque, 3.0-liter six-cylinder gas engine with 340 horsepower and 332 pound-foot of torque, a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 190 horsepower and 295 pound-foot of torque, and a 3.0-liter diesel engine with 265 horsepower and 457 pound-foot of torque. Available drive systems are rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Inside is a driver-oriented cockpit with just enough legroom, headroom, and shoulder room. It sports a freestanding 10.25-inch flatscreen Control Display Its driver-assist technology include crossing traffic warning, lane change assistant, priority warning, evasion aid, lane keep assist, and active cruise control with stop and go function.
One specific technology that stands out is the new 5 Series Touring's set of BMW Connected features that allows drivers to connect to their car via a smartphone-enabled device. BMW Connected allows navigation inputs, a Remote 3D View capable of seeing the area around the vehicle, a departure time calculator that uses real-time traffic information, and calendar management, contact information, and email functions. In addition, the vehicle supports Apple CarPlay and has an inductive charging space for wireless phone charging.
The new 5 Series Touring will make its worldwide debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show 2017. It is expected that BMW will unveil its pricing at the trade show.
