Tesla Motors Change Company Name to Tesla, Inc

Tesla has been a leader in the electric car business for quite some time now. Their philosophy about green energy has been the same since they made the company.

According to Tech Crunch, the name change from Tesla Motors, Inc. to only Tesla, Inc. likely reflects the expanded nature of its business. Tesla, Inc. is not about cars alone anymore. They have expanded their business into making battery packs for both home and commercial use. And now they have acquired Solar City, a solar power company that has been founded by Musk’s cousins.

Elon Musk also acted as a chairman of the board in Solar City. Tesla, Inc. introduced its second generation Powerwall battery storage device for home use and its Powerpack 2.0 commercial solar energy storage solution. There are also plans to create solar roof panels that look like ordinary roof tiles that the company has revealed. They aim to begin shipping the solar roof panels later this year.

Last year, the company changed the URL of their website from Teslamotors.com to Tesla.com. Their current focus is not only on their cars but in technology and design focusing on energy innovation which means the official name change was a long time coming.

According to The Verge, Elon Musk, one of the founders of Tesla, Inc., has not been shy about his ambitions for Tesla Inc. It’s not about cars anymore. He wants to use the company to create solar roofs with seamlessly integrated battery storage, develop self-driving capability in their cars that is 10 times safer than the manual driving.

Musk also wants to enable your car to make money for you when you aren’t using it. This is not the first time a company has changed its name. Ten years ago when Apple launched the iPhone, the company changed the name from Apple Computers to Apple, Inc.
