2017 Porsche 911 Turbo: A Completely Different Beast

The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo is completely a different beast compared with the other cars in its lineup. It offers great capabilities and was originally designed as a fast car for consumers wanting a little more extra speed and comfort as well.

Even in its base trim, the 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo is crazy fast thanks to its 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine capable of providing an astounding 540 horsepower with 523 lb-ft of torque. This beast has been bestowed by Porsche with 20 more horses to play with and much faster compared with the 2016 Turbo.

Porsche claims a 2.8-second 0-60mph with a top speed of 205 mph. The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo makes use of the Porsche's PDK dual-clutch seven-speed transmission and an AWD system. These improvements stem from increases in boost and fuel injection pressures, according to CarAndDriver.

Meanwhile, the Turbo S, which of course costs a bit more, is geared more toward luxury and is equipped with a full interior and a tame exterior design, per RoadAndTrack. It comes with a 572 bhp and the same 523 lb-ft of torque. At fairly good conditions, its 0-62 mph could reach close to 2.5 seconds, topping at 205 mph. This vehicle is also able to manage a 31mpg all thanks to its turbo-charger setup.

A Sport Chrono package comes standard to all 911 Turbos. This is inclusive of a rotary dial that sits at about 4 o'clock right below the steering wheel. It comes in 4 settings: sport, sport plus, individual, and comfort. Of course, the individual mode allows the driver to create his or her own combinations.

Also, the 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo comes equipped with an updated PCM navigation and infotainment system with Apple Car Play. The touchscreen buttons are complemented with swipe and pinch movements.

Overall, the 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo is unquestionably fast and delivers a kick, sounding pretty savage. A mind-bending speed and fantastic control make up for the $189,150 base price.
