The 2017 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman Is A Sporty Yet Practical Vehicle

The most powerful Mini ever produced comes in both a posh and sporty design. The 2017 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman is the practical 3rd car in the current trend to receive the JCW treatment.

The Mini JCW Clubman is an all-wheel drive, turbocharged, performance-themed JCW Clubman hatchback. This particular vehicle offers four full doors and a 2-door trunk. It more likely resembles a station wagon, than a city-sized hatchback.

According to Express UK, the 2017 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman gets bolstered sports seats with integrated headrests. Also, an available red-themed interior is an option to replace the standard mostly black cabin color theme. Plus, contrasting roof colors, stripes, paint colors and wheel options are also available.

The 2017 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman is equipped with a standard 6.5-inch central display with the infotainment setup that comes with rear parking sensors, attendant smartphone app, Bluetooth, a backup camera, cruise control, and proximity key entry with push-button ignition. Plus, sat nav and LED headlights are a standard.

The Mini JCW Clubman has retained its twin doors, although it doesn't suggest it is necessarily great or not great. This would depend on the driver's taste. But it is one of those cars that don't have a pretty back. For a sportier look, the JCW Clubman has a lower suspension. In fact, it has been lowered to 0.4 inches. It also houses a dual-outlet sports exhaust and Brembo brakes with four-piston front calipers.

At the core of the 2017 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman is only one engine. It is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which also powers the Cooper S. This unleashed 228 horses and 258 lb-feet of torque.

The Mini JCW Clubman engine is mated to either a standard six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its 0-60mph dash is at 6.6 seconds, due mainly to its launch control and standard all-wheel drive, per CarAndDriver.

Overall, the 2017 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman is a fast and civilized FWD vehicle that is practical and sporty. But it is not much of a head turner compared with other vehicles in its category. Its base price is estimated around $37,000.
