Czech Skoda Kodiaq: The First Seven-Seater SUV With Muscular Contour

The Skoda Kodiaq is the Czech company's first large and its first seven-seater SUV. The SUV marks the transfer of its design language into the SUV segment, featuring clean-cut lines, muscular contour and a well-built stance. It was an SUV perfect designed for everyday use.

There are five engines to choose from two types of diesel and three kinds of petrol as well as four-wheel options and different gearboxes. The diesel is both 2.0-liter units, one producing 148 bhp and 251lb-ft of torque while the other one with 187bhp and 295lb-ft. For the two 1.4-liter petrol engines with a 123bhp option and with 146lb-ft along with a sprightlier 148bhp unit offering 148bhp and 184lb-ft.

The Skoda Kodiaq's infotainment system comes with a 6.5-inch display as standard and could be enhanced with Skoda's SmartLink system. It includes a Bluetooth phone connection, plus Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and Android Auto. It is used for navigation and music streaming on the car's big screen.

The Kodiaq comes with a 720-liter boot with five seats in place. When all the front seats folded load bay grows up to 2,065 liters. The front passenger seat could be pushed away also allowing to safely store items up to 2.8m long without leaving the boot open.

The four-wheel drive is optional with the mid-range petrol and diesel and standard with the most powerful engines. Buyers can also choose from a six-speed manual and a six or seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. It offers with a choice of 14 paint finishes and three trim levels Active, Ambition and Style.

In addition, the SUV comes with the following standard equipment electronically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors with dip and memory function as well as Boarding Spot. It also comes with a Maxi DOR display and LED ambient lighting for the interior which could be set to one of ten colors.

The SUV also features a wide range of driver assistance systems along with the new functions including Blind Spot Detect which warns off any vehicles in the blind spot. The Driver Assistance Systems is the Trailer Assist and Rear Traffic Alert, which monitors traffic coming from the sides and behind when maneuvering. The Skoda Kodiaq strikes a good balance when it comes to offering comfort and agility.
