The 2017 Buick Enclave: Still The Classic SUV Everyone Knows and Loves

The 2017 Buick Enclave is a mid-size luxury sports utility vehicle from American car manufacturer General Motors. Although already a decade old brand, it still remains the best seller among other vehicles in Buick's stable.

The 2017 Buick Enclave. This SUV is one classy and comfortable ride with its chrome waterfall grille and elegant shoulder lines along with 19-inch wheels and automatic xenon headlamps. It has aged well and is currently into its ninth year.

The 2017 Enclave comes with a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with the former available only on the base trim model. A Sport Touring trim gives the Buick's design new colors and a black grille instead of the regular chrome one.

Under its hood, the Enclave has the same 3.6-liter V6 engine which is able to produce 288 horsepower and 270 pound-foot of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Performance-wise, the Enclave rides comfortably and smoothly. Its handling is noticeably responsive for a big vehicle. Its EPA ratings for fuel economy is at 16 miles per gallon in city driving, 22 on the highway, and 18 combined.

The interior of this SUV is spacious and covered in leather. It has 23 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats up but can easily grow to an enormous 115 cubic feet with the seats folded down. It sports power and heated rearview mirrors, second-row captain's chairs, and an eight-way power adjustable driver's seat.

The 2016 Enclave is known for its fine safety ratings. The 2017 model is no different getting a 5-star over-all rating from the feds. The IIHS has given it a "Good" rating in all tests administered on the 2017 Enclave. Additional safety features of the 2017 Enclave include rear-cross traffic alerts, forward-collision warnings, and blind-spot monitors. However, it should be noted that the Enclave doesn't have automatic emergency braking that is considered standard in most vehicles today.

Standard features found in the Enclave are an AM/FM/satellite radio with MP3 and auxiliary-in, three USB ports for playback and charging, a universal home remote, and remote start with keyless ignition. Other features include six months of OnStar with 3 gigabytes or 3 months of wi-fi connectivity, a rear-view camera, and tire-pressure monitors.

It could add more options that are found in other SUVs to take attention away from its unimpressive fuel economy ratings. The 2017 Buick Enclave base retail price is around US$D39,000 plus.
