A refreshed Honda Odyssey made its world debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Honda intends to keep its name as the leading minivan maker, despite the growing trend of crossover vehicles.
For the 2018 model year, the new Honda Odyssey comes with improved performance, sleek new style, and a fleet of new technology that surely the whole family will find useful and fun. However, the company is still considering for an all-wheel drive model option.
The Odyssey is powered by the same platform as that in the Honda Pilot. Thus, its performance will have been improved thanks to the 3.5-liter, direct-injected i-VTEC V-6 engine Variable Cylinder Management. It can deliver an exciting 280 horses. This is an increase of around 32 horsepower compared with the previous model. The car's engine is mated with either a 9-speed automatic transmission or the brand new 10-speed unit on higher-grade trim levels.
In terms of safety, the new Honda Odyssey is equipped with automatic emergency braking, land departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control.
The redesigned features for the new Honda Odyssey can be easily noticeable from its exterior. Brand new sophisticated and modern styling has been adopted but still caters to Honda's signature flying wing front grille. New LED front headlights and taillights, hidden sliding door tracks, and also new foot-activated, hands-free power tailgate are incorporated into the refreshed vehicle.
Impressive technology is housed in this brand new series from Honda. Among the features and tech it offers are CabinTalk, CabinWatch, Cabin Control, Social Playlist, and Connected Rear Entertainment System. The vehicle a quieter cabin allowing passengers to listen clearly to music played over the new Display Audio 8-inch high-resolution (720P) touchscreen interface that comes with a traditional knob.
The new Honda Odyssey arrives this spring. But pricing is yet to be unveiled by the company, although this may possibly start at around $29,850.
