iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak Update: Team Claims Unlock For iPhone 4S, 5 Coming In Two Weeks, Find Out When

Last week the Chronic Dev team released a statement that an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and 5 was not close and that it could be months until they are able to achieve any kind of success. Chronic Dev team member Joshua Hill even tweeted that the reason for this was because of the protections in the iOS system that Apple has set.

They may not have to worry about it however, as a new team has entered the race and is now claiming they will be releasing an iOS 6 or 6.01 jailbreak for devices like the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPads on December 22.

The Dream JB team chose this day because according to the Mayans, the world is supposed to end on Dec. 22 according to a report by the International Design Times. If the world doesn't end however, millions of people may finally be able to free their Apple devices.

The team has set up a website to announce the news and has tweeted the news to many media websites like the International Design Times and Jailbreak Daily. They have also stressed that they are not associated with the Chronic Dev team or any other team working on a solution.

Dream JB seems pretty confident that they will finally be able to offer a solution that so many have longed for since purchasing their Apple device. Many developers have claimed to have a solution for iPhone 5 devices the past couple of months, only to be proven as a fake.

Some sites have charged users up to $600 in fees, not to mention a headache that a fake jailbreak usually causes since cellphone stores won't help out someone who has even attempted to jailbreak their phone.

Many other developers have doubted that a non-Dev team could come up with a solution, but Dream JB insists they're for real.

"It's rather disappointing to see how egotistical this community has become. For members of Dev teams to explain to reports that it's nearly impossible for anyone outside the dev teams to come up with a jailbreak solution is absolutely ridiculous," said Dream JB in a statement. "To everyone else, the release is set to December 22nd and will not delay."
