2017 FIA WTCC Honda Lineup Unveiled, Which Japs Are Racing?

The 2017 FIA WTCC event is near commencement and the Honda lineup has been unveiled. Driving in threes, Ryo Michigami, Norbert Michelisz, and Tiago Monteiro will race their way to the finish this coming November.

Racer Credentials. Monteiro has driven for Honda at the same event last year. He was first labeled as the first Portuguese driver to lead an FIA WTCC early-season when he won back in Slovakia and finished with a bang the next set in Vila Real last June. It will be his fifth full season at the 2017 FIA WTCC to drive with Honda and will race with the Honda Civic Type R.

On the other hand, Michelisz is a newbie in the 2017 FIA WTCC Honda Lineup as he started racing for the brand last year. He utilized three Honda Civic vehicles and won the trophy for drivers of independent teams, reported Honda World.

Last but not the least, Michigami ranked in fourth place during the Twin Ring Motegi last year. He, too, had been labeled a newbie at the WTCC in 2016. Initially, he triumphed at the Super GT Championship with a Honda NSX in 2000 and would be Japan's first full-time driver in the WTCC.

The Cars. As reported by Euro Sport, the trio will race with Honda R&D-developed cars which have engines under the Type HR412E segment. They will be powered by four-cylinder 1,598cc turbocharged engines capable of generating 380bhp at 700rpm. The vehicle transmissions are 6-speed sequential with a twin-carbo disc clutch and limited slip-type and adjustable pre-load differential. Its front suspension is that of McPherson while the rear is an adjustable anti-roll bar. Its shock absorbers are powered by Extreme Racing Shox with a 4-way adjustable feature. With respect to the brakes, such would have 4-pot AP Racing bespoke design for the front calipers, 2-pot AP Racing for the rear, AP Racing 380x34mm for front discs, and AP Racing 280x14mm for its rear discs.

In conclusion, Ryo Michigami, Norbert Michelisz, and Tiago Monteiro are the official 2017 FIA WTCC Honda lineup drivers who would be driving Type HR412E Honda Civic vehicles in the race. Will they reign supreme?
