Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5: Android Jelly Bean Update Now Available For AT&T Users, Samsung Outselling Apple In U.K.

Samsung Galaxy S3 users who have contracts through AT&T can now update to the Jelly Bean system through Samsung's Kies software. Samsung revealed the news today on their company website.

This process will require S3 owners to download the new Android system onto a computer first and then download the update to their phones by syncing both together according to Samsung's upgrade page.

The news has been long awaited by most AT&T Samsung owners, as Sprint has had the download available for S3 users since the middle of October. T-Mobile also beat AT&T to the punch, releasing the upgrade in November through the Kies software.

Samsung Beats Apple In U.K.

Despite being more than three months older than Apple's iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S3 outsold its top competitor in the U.K. for the month of November according to Autoomobile.com.

The S3 has outsold every other smartphone in the U.K. for the last seven months which has to be considered great news for Samsung since sales were expected to diminish once the iPhone 5 was released. Experts credit the more affordable price as the reason the S3 has been able to outsell its opponent so far.

The S3 can be purchased for around $99 at most cellphone retail stores, where as the iPhone 5 is being sold on average for $200 according to the Apple website.

The iPhone 5 surprisingly didn't even come in second however, the iPhone 4S beat out the newer Apple device. This could also be attributed to the lower price as well and the fact that both phones are very similar as far as service goes. TrustedReviews.com believes that the iPhone 4S has a legitimate shot at becoming the top-selling smart phone in December however.

"The affordable price point has kept the Samsung Galaxy S3 at the top of the tree, but whether it will be at the top of the Christmas tree remains to be seen, as price drops for both the 4S and 5 have seen the iPhone quickly gaining ground," Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at uSwitch said to Trusted Reviews.
