McLaren will unveil McLaren 720S, the second-generation Super Series car to replace the 650S supercar at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7, 2017. The new McLaren 720S is expected to feature increased downforce, added refinement in external appearance and more power than the McLaren 650S.

According to TopSpeed, the McLaren 720S will double the aerodynamic efficiency of its predecessor due to the increased downforce and improved cooling. This was confirmed by McLaren executive director Mark Vinnels who said that "a range of advanced technologies" and changes in the new design of the dihedral doors have made these improvements possible.

The rear wing has been designed to be active with increasing and decreasing drag positions relative to actual driving conditions. It can also be used as air break when necessary.

Some changes in the dihedral door were made by the McLaren design team to help obtain a 15 percent improvement in cooling efficiency. Two air ducts have been position separately in the door. One duct draws air from the door top into the radiators and the other duct draws air from the front wheel arch to help increase downforce.

There has been no confirmation about the engine that will be used in the new McLaren 720S second generation car that will replace the supercar car McLaren 650S. To increase power, a bigger engine is needed.

CarDissection reports that the 720S will be sporting the new M838 V8 4.0-Liter engine. It is reported that this engine will be used in succeeding supercars that are using the 3.8 engines.

Because of the increased of rear wing and other slight changes in the body, taillights and rear grill will be thinner in the upcoming McLaren T20S. Round tailpipes replace rectangular ones used in the 650S. There will also be some large elements revealed in the lightweight carbon-fiber front hood of the car.

The McLaren 650S is already a high performing fast supercar that is difficult to replace. McLaren has announced that a replacement second generation supercar tentatively called McLaren 720S will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7, 2017.
