New Honda Mobilio Facelift Unveiled

Honda's operations channel in Indonesia, Honda Prospect Motor Indonesia, finally got rid of the old Mobilio and released a fresh one to its market. The Mobilio is the automaker's regional model in the compact MPV segment, positioned to compete with the likes of Suzuki Ertiga or Toyota Avanza.

The first generation Mobilio was a model for the Japanese market. The current second generation model is supplied in developing markets such as India, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.

Honda clearly worked up the exterior of the Mobilio facelift. Following the new touches made on Brio and Brio Amaze, the new Mobilio is the first facelift of the second generation model.

Looking on the outside of the car, the redesigned Mobilio comes with slimmer headlamps, with daytime-running LED lights, resembling the current generation Honda City. It also comes with lots of chrome across the front bumper and the grille, which has also been redesigned to look angular with the fog lamps.

The grille now looks larger especially on the thin chrome lining below the Honda badge and the lamps with black cover complement the black inserts of the air dam on the front bumper. Since this is a facelifted model, the body shell of the car is almost the same with that of the old Mobilio.

As for the engines, the new Mobilio has the 1.5-liter petrol i-Vtec that churns out 115bhp of power, the same engine as what Honda released in India. It also gets the five-speed manual transmission and the CVT automatic gearbox options.

Because of the changes made, there is a small chance that Honda will be bringing the Mobilio facelift to India as it would undermine the distinct identity of the BR-V except for the peripheral cladding. In India, the BR-V has a better performance than the Mobilio and releasing the facelifted model might affect BR-V sales.

Honda also unveiled the redesigned Mobilio with new features such as a digital air-conditioning system, revised seats with separate headrests, and a back-up camera. It will also be available with a touchscreen audio system, an eco-indicator, and audio controls on the steering wheel, same with the previous model.
